Grandmaster Chapman Promoted to 9th 10/8/11 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
At the 2011 IKSA National Training Seminar GM Chapman was promoted to the rank of Ku-Dan, 9th degree black belt. GM Floyd Burk, 10th Dan, made the promotion and presented the rank certificate which was also signed by the legendary Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, also a 10th Dan. GM Burk and GM Bernie Fritz talked about GM Chapman's accomplishments in the arts and service to the IKSA. AKA Senior Instructors Master Mike Hoyal and Master Tim Bowles spoke on how much GM Chapman means to the students of the school. GM Wallace also praised GM Chapman saying "he is very deserving of this promotion." Masters Hoyal and Bowles then presented GM Chapman with a beautiful certificate recognizing his promotion and a specially created belt to commemorate his 30 years in the martial arts. "I am honored and humbled by the promotion," said GM Chapman. "I am grateful to GM Burk and GM Wallace more than words can say."
AKA Members Inducted into Karate College Hall of Fame 7/7/15 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
After 28 years of hosting the Karate College founders Jerry Beasley and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace decided it was time to implement a Karate College Hall of Fame. Seven campers and five instructors were chosen to be in the inaugural class. AKA students Master Mike Hoyal and Sensei Cam Chapman were inducted as campers. Master Hoyal was participating in his 20th camp and Sensei Chapman his 17th. Master Chapman was chosen to be one of the five professors to be selected. Master Chapman has attended 27 of the camps and has taught since 1996. "I was honored and humbled to be inducted by Dr Beasley and Master Wallace", said Master Chapman. Mackenzy Becomes Sensei 2/9/16 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Congratulations to former Sempai Mackenzy Ramirez. She was recently awarded the title of Sensei and Assistant Instructor in American Warrior Karate-Do by GM Chapman.
"Since earning her Junior Black Belt 3 years ago Mackenzy has improved in knowledge and skill and continues to exhibit an attitude of humbleness and loyalty to the school," said Master Chapman. "It has been 11 years since one of the Junior Black Belts earned their senseiship".
Newest Sensei 8/20/16 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Michael Shounoda became the 2nd student this year to move from Junior Black Belt to Sensei. He has worked diligently since his black belt promotion to meet the requirements for Senseiship. Michael has attended the IKSA Seminar the last 2 years and this year the Karate College. He was also given the title "Assistant Instructor".
New Black Belt! 8/28/16 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Congratulations to Sempai Abby Dodd. On Aug 27 she successfully tested for black belt. The 10 1/2 hour test consisted of self defense, katas, sparring, a written test and more. A panel of AKA black belts evaluated the examination. She did an awesome job! Look for pictures soon on Facebook.
and Chase make 3! 9/14/16 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Chase Smith became the 3rd Junior Black Belt to earn their "Senseiship" this year. It had been 11 years since AKA had a Junior Black earn the title. Chase worked hard to improve his knowledge and skill since entering the adult class. He met all requirements for earning his new position-Assistant Instructor. "It has been gratifying to watch Chase as he has worked diligently to earn the coveted title of Sensei," said Master Chapman. Chase has been training with the AKA since 2009.
Student of the Year/Milestone Awards 1/27/17 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Master Chapman recently presented Milestone Awards to 4 students to recognize their time training in the martial arts at the AKA. Sensei Mackenzy, Sensei Ramirez and Sempai Keaton received 10 year awards and Sensei Culbreth received a 15 year award. Master Chapman also announced the recipients of the 2016 Student of the Year award. Maddox Sharpe was awarded the honor for the childrens class and Sensei Mackenzy for the adult class. Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to Kristen Ramirez. Master Chapman has awarded her the title of Sempai. She is a brown belt who works with the children classes and assists at seminars and camps.
AKA Students Inducted into Karate College Hall of Fame 6/26/17 (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Four AKA students, Senseis Tim Bowles, Matt Stonerock, Lindsey Culbreth and Michael Culbreth were inducted into the Karate College Hall of Fame at the recently held 30th Annual Karate College in Radford,VA. The four were part of a group of eight that were inducted into the Camper Division this year. Each has attended KC for more than 10 years. The 4 join Senseis Hoyal and C Chapman as members of the KC HOF.

28 members of the AKA, representing both Nashville and Brentwood schools, recently attended the 30th Annual Karate College held in Radford, VA. Master Chapman, with assistance from Senseis Stonerock, Hoyal, and Bowles taught 2 adult classes. Sandwiched in between the adult classes the four with assistance from Senseis C Chapman and L Culbreth also taught a children's class. The group had a great time enjoying the training , pool, pizza and fun! Pictures will soon be up on the AKA Facebook page.
